Unreliable and unprofessional service. Being a visitor to New Zealand and not knowing any local services I picked Arnell Service Centre from the reviews online and visiting the workshop to have a chat to Tony the owner. Needed to service my daughter’s car that I was using. She moved here recently and had not used a garage in Hamilton. The first standard service went okay in November. I was then advised in writing on the invoice that the next 100K service needed more work done with a list of items. So when we returned from a trip around New Zealand having clocked 10K I booked it in with a couple of days’ notice for the 100K service on Thursday 13th Feb. At the time I told Tony we were going away for the weekend the next day and I was also leaving New Zealand on the Monday after (17th Feb) so I wanted to get it done for my daughter before we left as she was overseas. Took it in early at 7.30 am and didn’t plan anything else for the rest of the day as I knew it was a major service. Waited for the call to say when it was ready which never came. Finally I rang at 5 pm to inquire and was told it was ready for pickup. When I got there the lady at the desk informs me that the spark plugs need to be changed at the earliest opportunity adding that they were too busy in the workshop that day to do it. When I got home and looked at the invoice for the previous service and what was listed to be done for a 100K service I was stunned to see that none of the extra work listed had been done. This included replacement of the air filter and spark plugs as well as the automatic transmission service. I rang Tony quite annoyed having left the car in his care all day and not even having had the courtesy of a call to say all the work listed could not be done or even when it was ready for pick up. He apologized saying he had let me down and he wasn’t in the workshop that day and it probably didn’t get on the job list. It was just a standard service in the end but when I looked at the labour cost it had risen from $ 80 to $ 95 almost a 20% increase in 3 months. When I queried this with the lady at the desk she said it was because they now calculated the GST differently! She then printed me another invoice for the last service done in November 2019 which then showed the labour cost increased to $ 92 (from the previous $ 80) with the total cost remaining the same! I took her word for this strange adjustment but overall I had lost trust and confidence in Arnell’s Motors so have advised my daughter not to return. Also there were some nice touches at the first service such as tyre black, some polish on the console and washer water with soap. None of that happened on the second service either. Very disappointing especially when you believe you’ve found a good place to service your vehicle and then find otherwise.

Great, friendly service from everyone I crossed paths with, transparent with details around what was required to pass the WOF vs what was recommended be done and I was provided the pricing on the two options. Very happy with the service I received and will continue to use Arnel Service Centre in the future

When most of service centers gave up on my car as they were unable to figure out what was the issue, the effecient team at Arnell made it work. It's been more than a year and I haven't had any issues. Special thanks for quick service, drop off and pick up too. God bless!!

Arriving unknown and unannounced at Arnel Service, I was very impressed with immediate attention of Tony Arnel himself. An immediate preliminary diagnosis; and the fact that I was able to have my van accepted for service there and then without any prior appointment for service - was excellent. That the following day - the cause having been found - a call to myself re costs having been cleared with me - I was able to collect the van with full engine repair - that afternoon - was an absolute godsend! Congrats Arnel!

Excellent service, a really well run business. The real point of difference is when Tony and the team send you images of the problem is thats going on with your car/truck/electric vehicle. From there you get a range of options to select from. The first place I have ever taken my vehicles and had this sort of service. You really feel well looked after. They also are happy to drop you to work and drop your car back to you.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with both of my vehicles being serviced. Their communication is direct and nothing is followed through until you have replied. I appreciate their help with my previous lemon of a car and now to my new one. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for their vehicle (and yourself with your maybe lack of whoozie wotists mechanical knowledge lol) to be looked after.

We have used Arnel services for many many years , way back when it was owned by Tony's father George. Both Tony and George are intelligent knowledgeable professionals when it comes to cars. Tony not only has a thorough systematic approach to diagnosing problems, he also has the ability to explain it simply to mechanically "challenged" people like myself.Even when I have turned up with a simple obvious problem they politely help me, without ever making me feel stupid. Tony is a really nice polite honest man of integrity to deal with, whom I trust implicitly to do a proper job and give me good advice.They make it convenient and easy to drop in your car, and Sam always gives me a lift home and picks me up from my home when the car is ready to be collected.Recently I was very grateful when they squeezed me in at short notice because I had suddenly realized my W.O.F was overdue. Partner took a vehicle there and I was certainly surprised to be told we needed new brake pads to pass the warrant. Expensive quote for replacing these, I then took the car elsewhere who advised that the brakes were sweet and working at 80% efficiency (50% is warrantable). Won’t trust these guys again that’s for sure!

For the past 18 months I have had all my vehicles serviced with Arnels. The service has been professional friendly and I love that I do not have to wait for days to book in and when they inform me of how long the service will take my cars have always been ready at the time they state. Several months ago I had to undertake a very big repair to my commercial van and Arnels kept in touch with me through every step of the major repair, they also helped me keep costs down and provided professional advice for the parts required... I love that I did not have to sacrifice quality parts to save on costs ! these guys know how to source great deals! I highly recommend Arnel service centre they have a central location that is easily accessible with parking.

I had taken my vehicle to another garage in town for clutch repair. They indicated that I needed a new clutch plate. Took it to the people at Arnel and they did a couple of adjustments and the van is running great saved big dollars. Nice to have honest and fair business people who you can trust they will be getting all of my work from now on. Well done keep up the awesome customer service.
